An Interview with Art L.
How many rugs you’ve collected so far?
I have 4 oriental runners in the upstairs corridor, and three rugs in my basement bar area. I have 6 rugs on the first floor, although 3 are from Catalina and of the highest quality.
Why did you Choose Catalina?
I chose Catalina Rug Co. because of the vast “one of a kind” inventory I was able to view on the website. Also, I read the numerous POSITIVE reviews, relative to customer service, which in any business, is extremely critical to me, personally.
How long have you been collecting rugs?
Probably over 35-40 years ago, I bought my first Oriental rugs, but lost those due to some circumstances. Through the years, I’ve had a few miscellaneous Oriental and Persian rugs, but only very recently have become serious in my desire to obtain just a few hand knitted treasures.
What inspired you to begin your Persian rug collection?
When I was deployed to the Middle East / Southwest Asia, I saw firsthand, some beautiful pieces. However back then, I did not have the option of bringing home any souvenirs.
What particular selection criteria do you have when buying a rug?
I really don’t have specific preferences, regarding region of origin. I’m drawn to certain patterns and specific color combinations I feel will go well with whatever color schemes are throughout my home.
