This Rug Has Found Its New Home
Richard W.
They have an excellent selection of quality Persian rugs. I have purchased two rugs so far and I am thrilled with the condition and quality of their rugs. I feel their prices are very reasonable and their customer service is excellent

Our pleasure to have Richard share with us his thoughts and tips on rug collecting.

1) What inspired you to begin your Persian rug collection?

I think these rugs are amazing works of art that sometimes take over a year or more to create. I think they add life to any room and they possess a unique charm that nothing comes close to matching.

2)  How long have you been collecting rugs and how many rugs do you own so far?

So far, I have collected 15 rugs and I started collecting rugs about 17 years ago. I wish I had more rooms, so I could collect more rugs.

3)  What particular selection criteria do you have when buying a rug? Please share your tips and tricks with other rug enthusiasts.

My first criteria is a handmade rug. I tend to collect rugs that are more traditional in style and exhibit excellent craftsmanship with detailed, symmetrical and well-defined designs. Higher knot count tends to go hand in hand with sharp detailed designs, but I don’t necessarily decide on knot count alone. I also like Gabbeh rugs, but if I am buying a Gabbeh, I try to find one that is unusual and of great quality.

4)  Why did you Choose Catalina?

It was easy to shop online because the website provided all the information necessary to get a good idea of the characteristics of the rug. It was very easy to order the rug and have it delivered to my home. I continued to purchase from Catalina because the rugs were in perfect condition and exceeded my expectations.

5)  Why Persian Rugs?

Persian rugs have the reputation of being some of the best rugs in the world. I have collected many different types of Persian rugs, from formal to casual, and I have always found them to be amazing works of art with unequaled craftsmanship that can last generations. I always find them fascinating.

Richard also owns a Tabriz and a Kashmar.
