1. What inspired you to begin your Persian rug collection?
We have always had Persian rugs in our family. My first experience was my father returning from Teheran when we lived in Munich in the 70’s with two very large rugs. There was a special quality about those rugs. I bought my first rug from Catalina as a gift to myself after a successful project at work. Persian Tabriz.
2. How long have you been collecting rugs and how many rugs do you own so far?
I have 11 rugs so far and have been collecting for over 30 years.
3. What particular selection criteria do you have when buying a rug? Please share your tips and tricks with other rug enthusiasts.
Mostly we look for a rug that will enhance our homes feel and aesthetic. Can be a Kilim or a prayer rug depending on where it will be used. We love the Tabriz designs as a bit more bold look. Of course, in California, the possibility of sun exposure also influences the type of rug and placement.
4. Why did you Choose Catalina?
My sister recommended Catalina as she lived in Redondo Beach and it came recommended to her from a friend. Good references. The experience is always positive, the quality is high, the service and attentiveness are excellent. Just great rugs at fair prices with excellent service from great people.
5. Why Persian Rugs?
For us it is the quality and the history behind these rugs. Also there is such diversity that we can always find something to match our needs.
