Description
Genuine antique Farahan Sarouks are very rare. A 19th century in good condition is a collector’s item and a fantastic investment.
Farahan, a 19th century designer, started designing these rugs to compete with the popular Kashan rugs, by creating a new and unique design. In order to differentiate between the two, Farahan introduced medallion motifs in the center. These highly stylistic center medallion motifs became hugely popular and were soon adopted by all Sarouk rug weavers.
Adorned with beautiful colors of beige, blue, black, rust, and pink, this 4′ x 6′ Pictorial Sarouk rug is an antique piece estimated to be around 90-100 years old. Pictorial rugs are handmade Persian rugs that portray picturesque sceneries or specific persons, events, places, or animals.
Hand knotted with 100% handspun, vegetable-dyed wool and a cotton foundation with a knot density of approx. 289 KPSI in approximately 130 days.
Its an artistic and unique piece meant to be placed on high visibility area.
