Description
Rug weaving in Azerbaijan has become a family affair with each family member playing different roles in the process. During the spring and fall seasons, the men shear and prepare the wool while the women collect the materials and dye the wool. Once winter comes, the family starts setting up the workshop and weaving the rug.
Hand-knotted using 100% vegetable-dyed handspun wool yarns, this 80-100-year-old Azarbaijan rug combines a timeless geometric design with a sophisticated palette of blue, rust, brown, beige, and yellow. Each knot of this rug was skillfully tied with a knot density of approximately 144 KPSI and was completed in approximately 201 days.
